In this course, we will take a bird's-eye view of the Kamakura period from the perspective of the Azuma Kagami as a historical document, and examine the history of its compilation and its characteristics from multiple angles. This is a course that considers historical materials as one hint for us to study history. Continuing from last year, the lecturer will be Shinichiro Takahashi, a professor at the Historiographical Institute of the University of Tokyo, who specializes in Kamakura medieval history.
